Within each figure, we use a red dot to represent a segment's end point where road segments connect, such as at an intersection. is convention is used in the following figures to show the intersections and end points for road segments. Individual road segments form intersections with each other at their end points, as shown in Figure 1. In Figure 2, the road has no exit (e.g., such as at a dead end), there- fore it does not form an intersection. When a road segment coincides with a road structure (such as the bridge shown in Figure 3), mapping editors should segment these roads at each of the structure's end points. Editors should also segment roads when they intersect boundaries, such as at a municipal or a public safety answering point (PSAP) boundary, as shown in Figure 4.
