Figure 4 Road Segments at Municipal Boundaries Figure 5 Road Segment Crossing a Railway Road Segment PSAP 1 PSAP 2 Main Avenue Municipality B Municipality A Road Segments Bob St. Main Avenue Roads, however, are not segmented when crossing other topographic polyline fea- tures, such as where they intersect railways, trails, or hydrographic features as shown in Figure 5. Likewise, road features are not segmented when they cross each other at different grades (i.e., roads must be at the same grade to be segmented; see Sec- tion 3.2.1 and Figure 16). 3.1 Road Classification Mapping editors should represent the following road classes as centrelines (see Section 3.2): freeways, highways, major arteries, minor arteries, collectors, local roads, ramps, service lanes, and winter roads. All roads should include official street names, and editors should only represent roads without an official street name when these roads provide access to three or more dwellings, or when they are used as recreational or resource roads. However, to maintain NG9-1-1 standards, road names are highly desirable when locating emergencies, and they should be included whenever possible.
