Lennox and Addington County wins Esri’s Special Achievement in GIS award
REDLANDS, Calif., Esri User Conference – July 13, 2021 – Esri Canada congratulates the County of Lennox and Addington for receiving the 2021 Esri Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) Award. They were chosen from thousands of Esri customer organizations worldwide for their effective enterprise implementation of geographic information system (GIS) technology to deliver better services.
Lennox and Addington County adopted ArcGIS Online seven years ago, and it completely transformed their IT department’s corporate service capabilities. This platform supports staff and workflows from economic development to roads and bridges, as well as services other municipal authorities.
"Lennox and Addington County's adoption of the ArcGIS system for social housing not only saves them a huge amount of staff time but also helped non-traditional users of GIS become comfortable using this technology, boosting their technical skills and the confidence needed to try new technologies. These people are now role models for the municipalities in the County,” said Alex Miller, president, Esri Canada.
The County developed an internal solution for the Social Housing staff using the ArcGIS Workforce mobile app. They care for 25 properties, including numerous offices and over 400 housing units across two Counties. They needed to streamline field worker operations for property management, digitize paper-based inventory forms that were lost in filing cabinets, monitor both documented and undocumented labour being done with limited oversight, and keep track of field staff across a huge area, with the hope of quantifying patterns and relationships between properties and maintenance.
“We developed Property Services WORKS using ArcGIS Workforce. This makes data from the field easy to capture and as a result has created a number of internal champion users. In turn, they have helped open up other users to the benefits of this digital transformation,” says Jason White, Manager for Information Technology for the County of Lennox and Addington.
Lennox and Addington County now has a team of managers in housing and property services using the ArcGIS system, who are excited to see even more capabilities of data and spatial analysis.
