Esri Canada Offers Data Solution for Understanding COVID-19 Vaccine Hesitancy

VaccineInsights dataset from Environics Analytics helps governments and public health units identify and better understand vaccine-hesitant populations in Canada

TORONTO, June 16, 2021 – Esri Canada is now offering VaccineInsights, a unique dataset from Environics Analytics with up-to-date COVID-19 vaccination, behavioural and trend data. VaccineInsights is ideal for governments and public health units as it helps locate undervaccinated populations and sheds light on the reasons behind COVID-19 vaccine confidence and vaccine hesitancy in Canada.

“Addressing vaccine hesitancy will help Canada reach herd immunity,” says Alex Miller, president, Esri Canada. “VaccineInsights enables public health decision-makers to understand, at a local level, where and why people are vaccine-hesitant, and tailor informed approaches to best connect with them.”

Using VaccineInsights, researchers, analysts and communicators can understand what populations are willing, unwilling or unsure about getting the vaccine and break down the motivations behind that behaviour. This helps forecast and understand public and workforce vaccination adoption, inform public service announcement strategies and plan for return-to-work/work-from-home models.

VaccineInsights is created by Environics Analytics with bi-monthly updates. It contains 67 variables from two authoritative survey sources, Caddle and BEworks, in collaboration with AskingCanadians by Delvinia. The data is modelled to create estimates for small areas—including health units, neighbourhoods and postal codes. VaccineInsights can be combined with other data for deeper analysis. It can also be visualized as maps, dashboards and charts using systems such as business intelligence systems and geographic information systems.
