Troubleshooting ArcGIS Pro like an Esri Canada Support Analyst: Part 3
Welcome to the third post in our Troubleshooting ArcGIS Pro like an Esri Canada Support Analyst series. While part 1 and part 2 focused on troubleshooting performance, crashes, data issues and Named User licensing issues in ArcGIS Pro,  this blog post will help you identify some key troubleshooting steps you can take when ArcGIS Pro is unable to connect to ArcGIS Online so you can get back to sharing, publishing (and searching for fun datasets in the Living Atlas).

ArcGIS Online will enforce HTTPS Only for all organizations in December 2020
The ArcGIS platform uses HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol for secure communication) as a key component of its security for web and service API connections. This includes connections between our software, such as ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Enterprise, with ArcGIS Online. Esri will be enforcing HTTPS Only, without exception, in December 2020, to increase the security of the ArcGIS platform.

If you’re wondering how this may affect you or your organization, or are simply looking for an action plan, we’ve got you covered! Register for this webinar that will go over the transition to HTTPS Only and dive into how you can best manage this change in ArcGIS Online.

Important Update for Enforcement of HTTPS in World Geocoding Service
Esri will be enforcing “HTTPS Only” in the World Geocoding Service on September 8, 2020. This important security update is likely to affect some ArcGIS software and custom solutions. Esri customers will need to act now to be ready for this change. “HTTPS” has always been an available URL for the World Geocoding Service, since the service debuted in 2012. With the upcoming update, the “HTTPS” URL will be enforced as the only available endpoint. Customers will no longer have the option of submitting requests to the “HTTP” URL. This update is in addition to the “HTTPS Only” enforcement that is planned for ArcGIS Online on December 8, 2020.

FAQ:  What’s New in the Summer 2020 ArcGIS Solutions Releases?
This summer (July/August), we released a collection of eleven new solutions, including a series of new coronavirus (COVID-19) back to work offerings, our first racial equity solution, new utility data management solutions, several operations solutions for states National Guards, and a new set of special event solutions for local governments. Hot tip:  One simple script to migrate ArcGIS Enterprise content
Did you ever want to migrate your web applications, web maps, and hosted feature services from your test, development and production server(s)? Or have you ever wanted to migrate content from ArcGIS Online to ArcGIS Enterprise? While you could use ArcGIS Online Assistant to migrate all your content, you would still need to change URLs and item IDs. This could become quite cumbersome and messy. With ArcGIS API for Python you can deep copy all of that content without having to recreate your work or change the reference URLs.
