Student awards: Esri Canada GIS scholarships and the Esri Young Scholars Award

Esri technology is used at post-secondary institutions across Canada for teaching and research in a broad range of disciplines, including both “geo” fields (geography, geology and geomatics) and non-“geo” fields (for example, forestry, biology and archaeology). Find out how Esri Canada helps support students at colleges and universities through the Esri Canada GIS Scholarship program and the Esri Young Scholars Award.

For the past decade, Esri Canada has been supporting students through the Esri Canada GIS Scholarships program. Close to 60 colleges and universities across Canada participate in this program each year. The selected students receive software, books and training to help them further develop their GIS skills and are invited to attend one of the Esri Canada User Conferences to network with GIS professionals.

Each scholarship recipient is asked to submit a poster on a project they have completed using Esri technology. Some of these posters have been displayed at User Conferences and the 2014 submissions were collected in the 2014 Esri Canada GIS Scholarship Winners Web app.

Esri Canada GIS Scholarship Winners, 2014 Web App: Explore the 2014 Scholarship winners' maps and find out how they've used the resources and software they received.

Since 2012, one exemplary student has been selected each year to receive the Esri Young Scholars Award for Canada. Winners of this award get to travel to the Esri Education GIS Conference and Esri User Conference in San Diego to display their work and interact with other Esri Young Scholars from around the world.
