GIS technology is forever changing. It becomes more pervasive, accessible, and powerful all the time. To keep pace with this change, our Training Solutions also continuously evolve, with a goal to help you sharpen your skills and develop new ones as conveniently as possible.

We accomplish this by offering a variety of learning formats from traditional classroom to instructor-led online while mapping learning objectives to your specific goals. Here are a few recent developments from Esri Canada Training to keep your eye on:

The arrival of 10.2 training

At 10.1, Esri Canada training was significantly redesigned to offer a more holistic and intuitive approach to instruction that incorporated adult learning principles and clearly defined learning paths. Hours of research were invested to take stock of current training offerings and re-envision improvements for the existing model.

10.2 marks the continuation of this transformation. To recognize the fact that GIS is quickly evolving into a complete enterprise platform, comprised of several core components, a fourth course has been added to round out the ArcGIS foundational course family. Foundational courses now include:

The new course, Sharing Content on the Web, teaches you everything you need to know to turn authoritative GIS data, workflows and maps into ArcGIS services that can be published to ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS for Server or Portal for ArcGIS. You’ll also learn how to embed your data in Web maps and Web sites that can be accessed by desktop, Web and mobile applications.

A new customized, convenient way to learn
If you’re looking to take a deep dive into a topic but don’t have a full day or two to spend with us, our new Training Workshops might be just the answer. They offer in-depth coverage of a particular topic, expert instruction and lots of opportunity to ask questions and get answers.

They’re presented as four hour sessions, delivered in an online classroom, that cover concepts and best practices on a focused technology topic. An expert instructor will walk you through software demonstrations and show you how to apply recommended workflows. You get ample time to ask questions via a chat window, phone or VoIP and also receive a certificate of completion and comprehensive resource materials. All without leaving the comfort of your own home or office.
