GIS in the Classroom
The Education and Research group at Esri Canada supports educators across Canada who are interested in using GIS in their teaching to meet specific curriculum objectives. We also promote the work educators are doing through the Education Spotlight e-newsletter and the Esri Canada blog. We believe it is important to highlight the hard work of educators and to share their stories, in hopes of inspiring others to use GIS in their classroom.
For those who subscribe to our e-newsletter Education Spotlight, you’ll be familiar with the section called GIS in the Classroom where we highlight educators who are using GIS in their teaching and want to share their experiences with others.
Our next GIS in the Classroom stories will cover the topics below:
- Why the educator decided to use GIS in their teaching
- What are some of the challenges and successes the educator has overcome
- Examples of activities or projects their students have worked on using GIS
- What are some of the curriculum objectives they want to achieve with GIS
- How have their students benefitted from using GIS
We hope that people who read these personal stories will be inspired to introduce GIS to their students.
