Alberta Sustainable Resource Development (SRD)

March 8, 2012
Alberta Sustainable Resource Development (SRD) manages public lands, forests, and fish and wildlife in Alberta. In 2007, SRD launched the Mobile Office Initiative to improve information access for field employees. They deployed ruggedized notebooks installed with Esri ArcPad, which enables staff to collect and update field data automatically to their enterprise GIS. They also use ArcGIS for Desktop to edit and analyze geographic data and maps. Realizing significant efficiencies during the pilot phase, the award-winning system was rolled out to over 300 staff within 18 months.
