Map of the Month: Residential Building Construction Dates Revisited: 2003 vs. 2023
The original Building Construction Date map was produced in 2003 for Survey and Mapping Services, Works and Emergency Services, City of Toronto. It was symbolized by year of construction. The oldest buildings were found in the city centre while newer buildings were found on the outer rings. Revisiting the map twenty years later, we see that where once, distinct colour bands spread out from the core, now scattered infill is visible throughout the entire City. In years to come, these bands will further dilute as the pressure to densify and build residential units increases.

This map was originally published in the 2017 Map Calendar.
