How students used GIS to promote earthquake preparedness in Eastern Canada

Earthquakes are common threats in western Canada, but what about Eastern Canada? In this video, Angie Abi Daoud, Olivia Maddigan, and Madina Sulaymonova of McMaster University describe the process of creating eastQUAKE, a suite of apps documenting the earthquake risk in Eastern Canada and their winning submission to the 2022 ECCE App Challenge. The ECCE App Challenge is an app development competition held by Esri Canada to help promote innovation and creativity within the Esri Canada GIS Centres of Excellence. Each year, teams of students at ECCE schools across Canada are tasked to create new and unique apps powered by Esri technology and open data to help address a problem related to a specific theme. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ► eastQUAKE Homepage https://esricanada-ce.github.io/ecce-app-challenge-2022/Team_McDisaster/app/ ► eastQUAKE Apps and Story Map https://storymaps.arcgis.com/collections/73abd1898ffd4da59fe75d6ebefa7176 ► ECCE App Challenge https://ecce.esri.ca/app-challenge/ ► ECCE App Challenge 2022 https://esricanada-ce.github.io/appchallenge/2022/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Resources on how eastQUAKE was created: ► ArcGIS Web App Builder https://www.esri.com/en-us/arcgis/products/arcgis-web-appbuilder/overview ► ArcGIS Story Maps https://www.esri.com/en-us/arcgis/products/arcgis-storymaps/overview ► ArcGIS Online https://www.esri.com/en-us/arcgis/products/arcgis-online/overview ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Want more from Esri Canada?
