Happy New Year - It's time to book your GIS events

It's a new year and what better time to mark your calendars than now, with so many upcoming GIS-related events that will advance your professional development and inspire new ideas to bring into your classroom. Find out which events Esri Canada and other organizations have planned in the first half of 2015.

A great way to start the year is booking your GIS-related events now. Attending events are a great way to learn more about GIS and provides an opportunity to network with other educators. Find out what’s happening in the first half of 2015 and register to attend your selected event.

Web Seminars

The Esri Canada's Web Seminars are delivered live by a technical expert, allowing participants to learn more about their ArcGIS products and ask questions. Examples of some upcoming Web Seminars include:

    This year, the Mining Matters education team will partner with Esri Canada’s education and research group to present a hands-on, Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) event. Register here.

GIS Competitions

The annual Skills Canada GIS Competitions for Secondary Students are held in Manitoba and Ontario. The competitions enable secondary students to showcase their GIS capabilities and challenge themselves in the process.

Angela Alexander is a K-12 Education Specialist in the Esri Canada Education and Research group. She has over 15 years of experience working with educators across Canada. Angela focuses on producing geographic information system (GIS) and curriculum-specific resources, and conducting and creating custom workshops for educators. She manages the GIS Ambassador Program and is the Technical Chair for the annual Skills Ontario GIS competition.
