Migrating to ArcGIS Pro
ArcGIS Pro is the premier tool for GIS professionals. It offers modern map authoring, advanced analysis, data visualization, extensibility, and complete integration with the ArcGIS system - allowing you to work faster and more efficiently. While its predecessor, ArcMap, will continue to be supported until March 2026, guidance is on hand to help you begin your migration journey.
What's new in ArcGIS QuickCapture (December 2022)
ArcGIS QuickCapture is the fastest and simplest way to collect field observations at speed. With the click of a button, you can quickly conduct damage assessments, perform asset inventories, document issues, and report on important events. Integrated with the ArcGIS system, new observations made with QuickCapture in the field can be used instantly for better decision-making. We celebrate our last update before the end of 2022. This release includes two handy new features for administrators and QuickCapture authors.

What's New in ArcGIS Image for ArcGIS Online (November 2022)
ArcGIS Image for ArcGIS Online is a SaaS that allows users and organizations to host, visualize, analyze, and share imagery in ArcGIS Online. As a member of the ArcGIS Image product suite, ArcGIS Image for ArcGIS Online assists organizations in quickly managing and sharing their imagery data without the need for infrastructure. Once you have all your imagery data organized, ArcGIS Image for ArcGIS Online then allows for analysis workflows, including deep learning. For this release, we are adding support for new sensors, support for the vector field template, a new multidimensional imagery layer experience, and additional performance improvements.
Enhance web app accessibility with Instant Apps
The goal of accessibility on the web is to create content that is accessible to all people, regardless of physical, mental, or behavioral disability. Esri is committed to creating accessible products and services compatible with the latest assistive technologies that conform to current software accessibility standards and guidelines. Identify Retiring v1 Esri Vector Basemaps using ArcGIS Notebooks
Esri’s version 1 (v1) vector basemaps will be retired December 1, 2022. After this date, web maps and apps that utilize these basemaps will need to reference another basemap listed in general availability. While you could manually check each of your map’s basemaps, let’s save some time and use the power of ArcGIS Notebooks to automate identification of any problematic basemaps!
Pop-ups: Arcade essentials
Layer pop-ups are an important part of crafting the complete map information experience. Pop-ups can transform an otherwise dull list of attributes into a far more meaningful display of intuitive and engaging information for your audience. Arcade can be thought of as a collection of useful tools that can be applied to craft the very best pop-ups, leveraging functions and logic to perform calculations and geometric operations, format text, access data from other layers, and much more.
How to summarize aggregate data using Arcade in popups
The November 2022 update of the ArcGIS Online Map Viewer added support for binning as an alternative to clustering and heat maps. Binning aggregates data to predefined cells, effectively representing point data as a gridded polygon layer. This post will demonstrate how you can use Arcade to create dynamic popup elements summarizing attributes from aggregated points in a bin’s popup.

The goal of this collaboration was to demonstrate how easily ArcGIS GeoAnalytics Engine can be plugged into Databricks architecture to extend cloud-based geospatial capabilities for organizations that need big data spatial solutions at speed and scale. Deprecation of Complimentary accounts in ArcGIS Maps for Adobe Creative Cloud
What is changing with Complimentary accounts in ArcGIS Maps for Adobe Creative Cloud?
The ArcGIS Maps for Adobe Creative Cloud Complimentary account, which provided access to a freemium version with limited features, will be removed and no longer supported after January 2023. The functionality in Complimentary is available via Plus or ArcGIS subscription license. If you already use the plug-in with a licensed account then this change does not impact you.
What happens when you include your email address with an error report?
There are two reasons where having that email address can make a big difference – one of these reasons helps you directly and the other reason helps us (which ultimately still helps you and all users)!
Boundary Layers Retiring | December 2022
In December 2022, several legacy Boundary Layers, which have been in mature support and not actively maintained, will be retired. Once these layers are retired, they will no longer be available to use. If you are using one of these layers, you should switch to the equivalent layer in General Availability.

In December 2022, several Esri Demographic layers and maps for the U.S. and Canada, which have been in mature support and not actively maintained, will be retired.
Developers: Required update to ArcGIS location services
On January 27th, 2021, new ArcGIS location services and pricing were released. If you have developed an application that uses ArcGIS Online services other than the new ArcGIS location services, you may be required to update your applications before April 30, 2022, or December 31, 2022.
ArcMap Continued Support
ArcGIS 10.8.2 is the current release of ArcMap and will continue to be supported until March 1, 2026, as established in the ArcGIS Desktop Product Life Cycle. This was a maintenance release only and does not include new functionality. This update does not extend the ArcGIS 10.8.x product life cycle. Esri does not have plans to release an ArcMap 10.9. The ArcMap Continued Support page, will be able to answer your questions regarding continued support of ArcMap as well as contains resources to help you transition your work moving forward into several Esri products such as ArcGIS Pro.

ArcGIS Pro 3.0.3 is now available for download from My Esri. To download Esri software, go to the My Organizations tab, then click the Downloads sub tab. You must have Download software permission in order to access the Downloads sub tab. If you do not see this sub tab, you may need to request permissions.

Community Map of Canada – Style of the Month: Through the Stained Glass
This December, gaze upon Canada and the rest of the world as though it were made of stained glass.
