It is for this reason that the Esri Canada Transportation team has set out on a mission to help transportation departments modernize their road data management systems.

After many workshops and one-on-one talks with transportation and asset management professionals across the country, we understand how deeply embedded data management philosophies can be. Indeed, most municipalities simply haven’t been exposed to solutions specifically designed for linear infrastructure management—solutions that enable more efficient, collaborative and simpler approaches to road and road asset management.

Still, while virtually all the municipalities we speak to are relieved to know that a better way exists, they are concerned about the effort it would take to implement a new system.
