Esri Canada employees are participating in the annual Movember challenge. We've created a story map to track the moustache growing progress of participants and also to showcase some of history's most famous moustaches.
Esri Canada's National Capital Region team proudly displays their moustache-growing prowess from last year's competition.
For the fourth year in a row, Esri Canada employees have been called upon to participate in the company’s Movember challenge in support of prostate cancer research and our annual United Way fundraising campaign. Moustache-growing contestants are asked to submit photos of their hairy enterprises to an esteemed panel of judges who will then select the best or most creative moustache for a prize. For each moustachioed picture that employees contribute to the story map, Esri Canada is donating $25 to the United Way. The United Way will direct the donation to a Prostate Cancer Research Charity.
To track progress through the month we’ve developed a story map highlighting some of the contestants, as well as famous and infamous moustaches through history—from Groucho Marx to Lanny McDonald.
Yes, you can map pretty much anything, including moustaches.

Paul Heersink is a cartographer and Production Manager of Esri Canada’s Community Maps Program: an initiative that is aiming to build a seamless topographic basemap using contributor data. He has over 15 years of cartographic experience, working in both the public and private sectors. Paul has always been interested in mapping and drew his own atlas at the age of 10.
