Last October, we posted an introductory tutorial for the ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Android to our Lesson Planner. At that time, Eclipse was the primary integrated development environment (IDE) for developing on the Android platform. However, in December Google released an IDE specifically designed for Android development, called Android Studio. Although Eclipse will continue to be supported, Android Studio is now also the default IDE for the ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Android. In the coming months, we will be developing a version of the introductory tutorial for Android Studio and also tutorials that go beyond the simple “Hello, World!” app. In the meantime, we have updated the Eclipse version of the introductory tutorial with the necessary changes to the installation instructions.
