How to master the administration of ArcGIS Enterprise

If you’ve taken on the administration of ArcGIS Server in the past, or of ArcGIS Enterprise more recently, you already know that it requires a specific skillset to efficiently set up all the moving pieces and optimize your deployment for your organization’s needs. That’s why learning to navigate your way around it on your own might be difficult. Read this blog post for resources to help you master those skills and administer a successful deployment that will support your organization’s goals.

If you’re about to transition from ArcGIS Server to ArcGIS Enterprise, we highly recommend you get some training and guidance from our experts so you can start on the right foot.

The ArcGIS Enterprise architecture is different than it was with ArcGIS Server and new components are now part of the deployment. Each component plays an important role and requires configuration. It’s now more crucial than ever before to learn how to apply best practices to optimize the use of your infrastructure (whether on-site or in a cloud environment), maintain performance of the system over time and secure the entire environment.

In addition, ArcGIS Enterprise now makes it possible to collaborate with other departments that have their own ArcGIS Enterprise deployments, or with other organizations that have common goals, by sharing data and insights. Doing so will help everyone involved find new heights of success. This new concept is called distributed collaboration.

ArcGIS Enterprise also offers you the possibility to ingest and display real-time data, allowing you to stay attuned to what’s happening at all times. This option brings in big data, so administrators need to understand how to fine-tune the system properly.

On top of managing resources, data and services, as an administrator you’ll also be managing users, groups and permissions. Luckily, we’ve now got plenty of tools to help make your life easier. Juniper Notebooks and the ArcGIS API for Python provide you with automation options that will make your day-to-day more manageable.
