GIS for Community Engagement - Open Data Hub | City of Ottawa
How is the City of Ottawa using open data to evolve civic engagement? 📊 As part of addressing complex issues like housing affordability, public health response and climate change, the City of Ottawa is making its data more widely available. In recent years, the City of Ottawa has been using its open data program, Open Ottawa, to share new types of data and information products—not only geographic information system (GIS) data, but also data visualizations, interactive maps and data stories designed to maximize participation and encourage civic engagement. The Open Ottawa Hub, redesigned starting in 2023 and built using ArcGIS Hub, aligns with the City’s commitment to transparency and accountability by making City data and information more widely available. By moving away from a purely data-centric design, the City is now showcasing more content types and creating subject-centred subsites within the Hub. Now, more residents can join in and help find creative solutions to the City’s most pressing problems. Want to get the whole story of the Open Ottawa Hub?
