Month: December 2018
Organization: Northwest Territories Geological Survey
Products: ArcGIS Desktop 10.4.1

This map is the product of detailed geological mapping of 2.6 to 2.7 billion-year-old volcanic rocks in the Sharrie Lake area in the Northwest Territories. It is part of a multi-year project to study the bedrock geology and mineral potential of the Slave Geological Province of the Canadian Shield. Regional and detailed geological mapping allows explorers to better understand the mineral potential of a region and where to concentrate their exploration efforts. This map is one of many peer-reviewed publications produced each year by the Northwest Territories Geological Survey, a research-focused division of the Government of the Northwest Territories.
