How Better Data Helped Oakville Win $7 Million For Growth | GIS
The Town of Oakville used innovative data management to justify their case for $7 million in funding from Ontario’s Building Faster Fund—but how’d they do it?
The Oakville Data Hub is a dashboard full of essential planning-related geographic data that the Town of Oakville is using to have a real impact in the community. By gathering information into that one hub, the Town was able to support their application for $7 million in funding. The Data Hub is helping other organizations in Oakville, too, like Oakville’s Bronte Business Improvement Association (BIA). The BIA used the Data Hub to apply for grant funding to beautify their market square, improving foot traffic and giving local businesses an economic boost.
By building trust, improving their data pipeline and getting high-quality data out to those who need it, the Town of Oakville is making visible change for the benefit of all.
