GIS for Water Conservation #ArcGIS #ArcGISOnline
The Region of Waterloo was using physical printouts to manage their water conservation bylaw enforcement process. A printed map would be used to determine patrol areas for bylaw enforcement. But because the Region is geographically vast, this wasn’t an efficient system, nor did it provide an accurate picture of which patrol areas had been covered. Using geographic information system (GIS) technology, the Region is now able to visualize which areas have been patrolled and how the current water conservation bylaw enforcement season is going. A digital dashboard connected to an interactive digital map also enables supervisors and management to understand the greater picture, and to communicate with councillors about how water conservation enforcement is going across the Region. Thanks to the new system, the Region is able to work better, faster and more efficiently. Watch the full-length video to learn the whole story!
