City of Kingston Revolutionizes Urban Planning with 3D Modelling

The City of Kingston in Ontario has more than 1,200 heritage properties. To ensure proposed development blends well with its heritage fabric, the City is creating a “digital twin” of Kingston. Using LiDAR and 3D capabilities in Esri’s geographic information system (GIS), ArcGIS, the City has created realistic 3D web scenes of its infrastructure, which provide better situational awareness of what has been designed and what should be built in the future.
