Raven Connected wins Esri Partner Content Delivery Award

Canadian firm transforms work zone safety with AI and GIS, helping cities boost road safety, ease congestion and improve permit compliance

Key Points

  • Raven Connected’s AI onboard units on vehicle fleets detect real-time lane closures, sending spatial data to Esri’s ArcGIS platform so municipalities can improve road safety and manage work zones efficiently.

  • The award-winning solution automates lane closure detection, validates work zones against permits and enhances traffic management without new roadside infrastructure.

  • By integrating fleet-based AI with ArcGIS, Raven Connected empowers municipalities and transportation agencies with advanced, actionable traffic intelligence for improving safety, mobility and lane closure permit compliance.

TORONTO—March 10, 2026—Esri Canada congratulates Raven Connected on receiving the Esri Partner Content Delivery Award for its innovative integration of fleet-based computer vision data with Esri’s geographic information system (GIS) platform, ArcGIS—delivering real-time traffic and work zone intelligence to municipalities and transportation agencies across North America. The award, presented at the recent Esri Partner Conference in Palm Springs, CA, recognizes Esri partners that deliver high-value, ready-to-use content, enhancing ArcGIS workflows and enabling customers to make better, faster decisions.

Esri Canada is building a trusted GIS-based data exchange for connected vehicles, the Transportation - GeoXchange® (TGX), and Raven Connected is a foundational TGX partner. The two organizations deployed this solution for the first time at the 2025 ITS World Congress in Atlanta, GA. In a live demonstration, passengers in vehicles received real-time alerts as they approached AI-detected work zones, improving safety while allowing the traffic agency to better manage these closures.

Raven Connected extends the value of ArcGIS by delivering high-quality, real-time content sourced from vehicles already on the road,” says Daniel Kligerman, director, Intelligent Transportation Solutions, Esri Canada. “Their work demonstrates how partner-delivered content can help transportation agencies act faster, reduce risk and operate more efficiently.

Headquartered in Ottawa, Raven Connected is pioneering a new approach to traffic management by using AI-powered cameras deployed across commercial vehicle fleets to detect unplanned and unauthorized road closures in real time. By continuously delivering collected data directly into the TGX platform, Raven Connected enables municipalities to improve situational awareness, validate detected work zones against permit data and enhance traffic management centre operations without requiring new roadside infrastructure.

We’re honoured to receive the Esri Partner Content Delivery Award and to be recognized for the work we’re doing with Esri Canada,” says Dan Carruthers, founder and CEO, Raven Connected. “By combining AI, vehicle-based sensing and GIS, we’re helping transportation agencies see what’s really happening on their roads in real time. Our partnership with Esri allows us to turn that data into actionable intelligence that improves safety and reduces the impact of work zone operations.

Raven Connected stands out for its first-to-market integration of fleet-based computer vision with ArcGIS, which enables automated correlation of detected lane closures with permitted work zones and support for connected work zone (CWZ) and Vehicle to Everything (V2X) standards. This approach enables municipalities of all sizes, including those without access to expensive fixed sensor networks, to benefit from pre-existing vehicle data and advanced GIS-based traffic intelligence to support modern traffic and work zone management.
