A geographic information system (GIS) allows students to capture, manage, analyze, and display all forms of geographic information so that they can question and interpret relationships, patterns and trends in real world data.

Just as reading and writing are hallmarks of a quality education, spatial literacy is critical to understand today’s economic, environmental and social issues. By manipulating geographic data through the creation and use of maps, students can move quickly from visualizing where things occur to analyzing why things occur where they do.
