Mapping Urban Heat and Cold Islands in the Québec Region

This map represents the distribution of urban heat and cold islands in the urban area of the Québec region. A temperature classification was generated using a statistical model with several geospatial variables generated from a Landsat 8 (2013) satellite image. This map represents a decision-making tool for Nature Québec’s project “Des milieux de vie en santé” (Healthy Living Environments). For example, it will allow the identification of priority areas for establishing new urban cold islands.
