Dr. Brent Hall is Director of the Education and Research group at Esri Canada. He has worked in this capacity for the last 7 years. His responsibilities include managing all company activities that support and promote the use of Esri software in K-12 teaching as well as university teaching and research across Canada. Prior to joining Esri Canada, he was Professor and Associate Dean at the University of Waterloo and most recently Professor and Dean at the University of Otago in New Zealand. He has a Masters and PhD in Geography from McMaster University and an undergraduate degree with honours from the University of Otago. He has published two books, numerous book chapters, and over 85 papers in refereed academic journals – all dealing with various aspects of spatial data and GIS. He is past recipient of the University of Waterloo’s outstanding teacher award and was also recipient of the Canadian Association of Geographers annual award for outstanding teacher of Geography in Canada. He is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Waterloo, Ryerson University and OCAD University.
