What is the Community Map of Canada? The Community Map of Canada is a seamless vector basemap of Canada built from authoritative data, collected closest to source and updated daily. Created and maintained to one common specification, it provides unrestricted access to community maps and imagery across the country. Data on the basemap is provided by authoritative government sources, such as municipal, provincial and federal government agencies, and Indigenous communities. You will also find data from educational institutions and infrastructure organizations, such as airports and port authorities. To date, there are over 400 contributors providing their authoritative data to the Community Map of Canada. Contributor data sources are scanned on a daily basis and any updates or changes are downloaded automatically. A new version of the Community Map of Canada incorporating all changes is then reviewed and published twice a week. What are the benefits of using the Community Map of Canada? 1.
