In 2014, the Grand Pré Trails Society was formed to promote the Grand Pré to Wolfville rail-to-trail initiative. If developed, the trail will help protect the environmentally-sensitive Landscape of Grand Pré dyke lands by containing visitors to a public-access corridor, and it also offers potential economic opportunities as a result of a projected rise in local tourism. The Rail-to-Trail Planning Map illustrates the vision of the trail using a combination of topography, elevation profiling and imagery. The map is a key resource in the Society’s efforts to secure project funding and promote the trail initiative to the local community and partner organizations.
