Global Flight Network - 2013

Month: December 2014
Organization: Bio.Diaspora
Industry: Health Care
Products: ArcGIS for Desktop

Over the course of a year, more than 38,000 commercial flight routes connect cities with one another. This map, created with Python and ArcGIS for Desktop, provides a greater understanding of how interconnected our world is due to today’s air transportation. This image acts as a demonstration of the type of analysis and risk assessments that can be performed using Bio.Diaspora, a Web-based GIS that allows epidemiologists to efficiently integrate a wide array of data related to emerging infectious disease threats in the world, and to predict their potential spread across global networks.
