Household garbage and recycling collection in the City of Woodstock—located in Oxford County in Southern Ontario—is performed by the public works department.  To improve the way garbage and recycling collection is co-ordinated, scheduled and communicated, the public works department leveraged GIS technology to create a comprehensive map detailing garbage route areas and truck routes throughout the City. This map is one of many ways the public works department organizes their services to make their work more efficient.
