This map depicts crime counts in the City of Calgary’s communities for 2018. There is an apparent unequal distribution of crime counts across the region. This trend is also observed in the heat map of crime counts. To understand this unequal distribution, social deprivation index values for the city were mapped. In regard to the index, the value of 1 corresponds to the least-socially deprived category, while the value of 5 corresponds to the most-socially deprived category.
