Eastern Slopes is an area of Alberta’s Rockies that covers 90,000 square kilometers. This is one map in a series created to help policy analysts working with the Alberta Government to develop an enhanced management framework for the Eastern Slopes. The framework will address the cumulative effects of footprint on the landscape and will look to create new conservation areas and integrated planning approaches. The Eastern Slopes are managed under the “Policy for Resource Management of the Eastern Slopes, 1984,” which includes: Zone 1 (Prime Protection), Zone 2 (Critical Wildlife) and Other (replaced by new policies or zoning).
