2 Esri Canada | Mapping Solutions for Municipal Government The Canadian Municipal Data Model (CMDM) ArcGIS for Canadian Municipalities is based on a harmonized data model, GIS datasets, Web services, basemaps and editing workflows that bring your operations to life. The Canadian Municipal Data Model (CMDM) connects silos of information within a municipal organization. It helps operations run more efficiently, communicate more effectively, save time and money and engage citizens in more meaningful ways. It also supports data sharing between municipal, provincial and federal agencies. Specifically designed for Canadian municipalities, the CMDM conforms to the country's requirements for publishing parcels, elections, demographics, addresses and other data. It includes a series of essential foundation layers and operational information designed to reflect specific requirements and the cartographic design elements necessary to produce rich, multi-scale maps. You can use as much or as little of the data model as required. It can be easily configured to support your specific needs by selecting and implementing themes, adding fields or modifying field and layer aliases to reflect terms most commonly used in your organization. They integrate data from across departments, providing a framework to enhance collaboration and efficiency. By implementing ArcGIS for Canadian Municipalities, your employees and residents alike can work with high quality, great looking maps. The use and adoption of a consistent model means that maps and apps can be developed once and shared across the user community helping to promote inter- and intra-agency collaboration and efficiency.
