Geodesy – The science and mathematical study
concerned with the determination of the size and
shape of the earth and the exact positions of points
on its surface and with the description of variations
of its gravity eld
Geodetic – Coordinates based on geodesy,
generally with high precision, of the position/
measurement of a spatial orientation on the earth
including latitude, longitude, and ellipsoidal height
(known as geodetic height)
GIS – Geographic Information System
GPS – Global Positioning System
ILEC – Incumbent Local Exchange Carrier (also
referred to as NG9-1-1 network provider)
LGA – Local Government Authorities
LVF – Location Validation Function

NENA – National Emergency Number Association
RTT – Real-time Text is a text transmission that is
character by character in real time. This technology
allows consumers to send and receive text
characters as they are typed, as well as audio,
simultaneously [5], [6].
SI or SDPI – Spatial Interface, Spatial Data
Provisioning Interface – A functional element of
the NG9-1-1 system that provisions GIS data to
the Emergency Call Routing Function (ECRF)
and Location Validation Function (LVF) functional
